Card - Enjoy the Little Things

I had lots of green butterfly wings sitting on my desk and I thought they would be pretty in a wreath around the Anna Griffin Medallion. The medallion came with my mini minc foiling machine and after foiling the piece I colored it with alcohol markers. I die-cut a leaf shape and used it as a stencil then put the butterfly wings and antenna on top. Then I layered some leaves on top. I used foam tape under the medallion and stamped my sentiment on some acetate I had cut out with a scalloped edge die. Lastly I glued down three purple dots I made from beads.

Have a great day!

Card - So Grateful Friend

Here is another friendship card I will be giving out. On this card I used the flowers and stems I had been experimenting with using the Kaisercraft Watercolor Friends stamp and die set. This set is a layering stamp set with 3 stamps for the flower and 2 for the leaves. The idea is to use one color, often the lightest, for the base shape and subsequently darker colors for the next layers. I used a lighter color for the base, darker for the petal definition, and instead of black or dark brown a metallic yellow. I ended up stamping the yellow 2 to 3 times to get the coverage I wanted. These stamps are pretty easy to line up and I like that the flower doesn't have a uniform shape as this makes it much easier to line the die up correctly.

Have a wonderful friend filled day!

Card - Thinking of You - Heart Gate Fold

I saw some dies that made gate-fold cards and I thought it would be fun to make one. Making this card brought back memories of making cards like this when I was little. I cut a strip from an A4 piece of card brief and not having a heart die, I traced a heart onto the cardstock. I cut the heart halfway out on both ends and cut a slit halfway up and down the heart. I covered the half hearts with patterned paper and decorated the front of the card. This card would be pretty for a little girls birthday.

Have a beautiful day!

Card - Box Garden

Pop-up Box Card
I decided to try my hand at a pop-up box card. Many of the cards of this style I have seen have an equal amount of box top and bottom. I wanted more space on the top to decorate, so I made my card base with a short box bottom and a tall box top. This meant that the flaps angle out nicely from the box and there was plenty space to decorate the top. I thought it would be fun to put a garden in the box and have insects and things pop up and out. For instance, the dragonfly is on a piece of acetate so it looks like it's suspended above the garden. I had fun making this card and probably filled it too full... Oh well, perhaps it is overgrown because currently we are living in a desert and it is usually pretty hot and brown.

Have a beautiful day!

First page: quote and card slipped behind ribbon
Internal card open

Second page and a half page on the right. On the left, the two envelope flap lifts up. More quotes.
Open envelopes reveal goodies like this Happy Birthday banner. The big envelope contains notes.

Fun things to wear :)

Have a great day!

One Card 3 versions

Yesterday I made these cards from a card design I saw in Stamptington & Company's magazine Take Ten or Stamper's Sampler. I can't seem to find the card I took the design from which is a bit of a bummer, because I really like the way my cards turned out and I'd like to give my source credit. I also stamped the animal inside the card.

One of the twelve cards is already in an envelope ready to give my neighbor. During Eid they brought over some mutton for us. It was a mixed bag of ribs and backbone. I ended up cooking them like my mom does spareribs: boil for an hour, smother them in Mrs. Chans (an old neighbor of ours) sweet and sour sauce, then bake for another hour. They were quite yummy and interestingly enough, after all the cooking and baking, they had lost most of their sheep flavor.

Have a wonderful day!

ATC Flower #16

#373
I was having so much fun highlighting everything (well, nearly everything...) that I bough some Canson 145 lbs A4 paper in BLACK and cut it into ATCs. Naturally I went ot town for a few days... My Sakura Gelly Roll was put to good use, then I got into my Pentel, Zebra, and Roco gel pens. The gold and silver Pentel Hybrid Gels look great on the black paper. It is interesting to see my flowers in negative space.

Have a great day!
