Card - Bird focal point

Hi, I am posting two bird cards today. I used the Hero Arts Color Layering Bird & Branch set on one and Inkadinkado's doodled flying birds and things, plus a bunch of other stamps and dies for the background and sentiment.

I hope you have a great day!

Card - Smile for Coffee Friends

I made a set of 6 of these cards to give to friends. I only had 4 gold doilies so for 2 of the cards I painted a white doily, layered a die-cut heart doily over it, and then put the eyelet circle with the coffee element over that. I like the way the cards came out and hope the recipients like them.

Have a lovely day!

Happy Mail - Outgoing

Front
This happy mail is for my dad. I started it using the birds and then found out he was having trouble with pigeons... so I added pigeons :)

The envelope in the first flip has a couple of photos and the envelope at the second flip has a letter. The first flip pocket also includes ATC sized cards with pigeon pictures, just in case the pigeons leave and he gets lonely ;)

I started out with two 12 by 12 sheets of scrapbook paper glued together (they weren't double sided) and began by cutting it like some of the file folder flip books I've seen, but then things went sideways... Anyway the flip book is 3 in by 6 in with a central pocket. My dad doesn't really like taking small things out of little pockets and putting them back in, so most things are solidly glued down and the pictures and letter don't need to go back in their envelopes. I glued a belly band to cover the ribbon that goes around the back of the folder and ties in front. I put washi tape around the edges of the folder largely because two sheets of paper glued together often fray and pull apart. With the tape around the edges, it will hold up better.

Have a wonderful day!

Life Notes - I ended up sending this card out from the States. It was almost done when I got the call that my mom had died. She had cancer for the second time and had felt great until just before her birthday. She died a few days after her 80th birthday. So that tells you the main event that has lead to why I haven't posted for a long time. Then, I spent some time with my dad while my husband and the boys went on our vacation. I joined them for our vacation and we got back a few days ago. Hopefully I'll collect myself together and get back to posting at least intermittently.

Have a great day!

Spend time with those you love. One of these days you will say either, 'I wish I had', or 'I'm glad I did.' - Zig Ziglar

P.S. People like Happy Mail when you can't be with them. For a short time, when they receive your mail, you are with them and they know you are thinking about them often enough to take the time to send them a note, a card, or even a postcard.

Birthday Card - Interactive (yes another one)

Card Front
First Page with inside card removed from it's holder

Second page with flap open showing quotes and letter envelope
We have a series of birthdays in the first part of the year and this is the card for Myra's birthday. It is similar to the three I posted previously. I made several book bases for the cards all at once and they will all have similar interiors. I have made each of the cards with a crown that pops up when they are opened, but only the first two cards are actually the same so far.  The interior of this one I had to change up a bit because the banner didn't fit in an envelope. I added extra pockets with quotes to this card. Myra likes bunnies so I found some bunny cards and graphics and printed those off and stick them in pockets. The paper the beaded name is on can be flipped up and the name removed. Under the paper is another quote. Each card is the same, but unique... I am enjoying making different cards from the same base.

Have a fun filled day!

Happy Mail for us :)

First:
Happy New Year's Eve!

Second:

We got Happy Mail today from my parents! Lots of pictures and cards, yay!
Font: Chalkduster

My dad made the cards for the Fourth of July, Halloween, Christmas, and New Year's. He enjoys thinking up and making cards with moving parts. This makes receiving one of my dad's cards a fun experience. We enjoyed the pictures. The one shown is of their Christmas train set-up.

The package was a big surprise since my parents said they were saving the pictures and cards up for when I visit in three months or so. Mailing anything to here is exorbitant, but from here is relatively inexpensive. So, I enjoy sending out Happy Mail, but don't expect to receive any and when we do get something, it's an event for celebration :D

Hopefully your last day of 2015 will be as happy as ours,

Theta

Boxes for things

I also made two boxes out of foam-core board and covered them in patterned paper.
First I measured (twice ;)  ) and cut out the top and bottom. The purple box was small enough that it took only one piece of foam-core for the top and one for the bottom, so I cut a trough to account for the thickness of the board. I glued it all together with UHU glue and used straight pins to hold it together while it was drying.
After the two pieces were dry, I covered them in patterned paper and added hinges and a clasp.
Here is the purple box finished.
Gems: Say It in Crystals
Paper: unknown
White Pen: Gelly Roll White
Hardware: Zamix
And now for the red box. I added a pocket to the lid, boxes for the little cards, and a divider for the big cards.
Materials are the same for this box and the purple one, excepting:
Purple Paper: Fabriano Cartacrea
Ribbon: Sunflower, China
The purple box was my first try to see how making a box out of foam-core would work out. I wanted a box to keep my cards in, but couldn't find anything suitable. Since my first box worked out well, I decided to make one for my cards. It's perfect, except I think I am going to have to make another one since this box is full.

Have a wonderful day!
